If you can do it, so can I

How can I do this when ...

The inner conflict that keeps us struggling between "I know I can do this" and "I know I can do this, but.."
We are experts of thinking we need some outside recognition to accomplish anything. The deal is that you get all the recognition you need from yourself. If you believe you can do it you can. If you believe you can't do it, you can't. It's so simple and so complex at the same time.

How do you get away from - I want to, but.. (and here comes all the excuses of everything outside of yourself) - my mom left me when I was 4 - my dad abused my - my boyfriend cheated - my wife wont let me - my children are too small - my time is too short - my money won't reach ... and the list goes on forever.

You see all these people that has accomplished everything you want and what do you think was different for them? How did they make it? Did they have a rich uncle, maybe they had more time in their everyday life to spend on it? They had amazing parents that supported them no matter what? What do you think the reason is that they made it, and what do they have that you don't?

Le me tell you something, we all get the same 24 hours a day. We all have a history of abuse in some form, we all come from dysfunctional families, we all struggle sometimes, we all feel that everything is hopeless sometimes.

What's the difference

The difference between those who made it and those who don't is their mindset. Where you might think, if I just had a little more of this and a little less of that I could see myself do so and so.. The ones who made it had the thoughts of I don't care what you think, I know I can do this. I'm going for it and I'll do whatever it takes.

The Winners, we can call them that, they have a clear vision of where they are going. They don't know how, but they know they will get there and they know what it feels like to reach.
The Triers, let's call them that, they have no clear idea where they are going, but they have an idea of how to get there. Can you see the difference?

The Triers have to work their way backwards. First they have to know where they are going! What is it that they really want? And they have to be specific about it. I'll give you an example of an unspecific goal: "I want a lot of money, a big house and awesome cars" A more specific goal is "I earn $10M a year, I live in a million dollar mansion by the beach in California with 20 bedrooms, 15 baths, an infinity pool and a tennis court. I have a black Ferrari and a red Maserati that I drive in when I'm going to meet my clients in Hollywood..." A specific goal is the dream you have of how you want your life to be.

The other difference between the Winners and the Triers is that the Winner is never concerned about how he will achieve all this. All he knows is that this is his outcome and there's no way around it. The Triers are concerned about the what if , the how , when and where? All good questions and when it's time you will know, but you won't know until you're there and see the results. You have to trust the process and just do that little step forward every day that will get you closer to your goal. Relax and believe.

How can you do this

Your mind is very powerful and it believes everything you tell it, so make sure you tell your mind with confident that this is what you want and feel as if it's already yours. Your mind don't know the difference between reality and thoughts so whatever you feed it, your mind will believe.

I saw this one exercise with Tony Robbins, and I tried it myself of course, he said; Stand up with you hands in front of your chest pointing straight forward. Then turn your body as fare as you can clockwise and notice how far you get. Then you close your eyes and visualize that same exercise only you visualize turning a lot further, like an owl. Then you open your eyes and you turn your body again and notice how fare you reach this time. I turned a lot further the second time, and all because I had a limiting belief  that was keeping me from reaching my full potential in turning my upper body. So the more you visualize your amazing life, your mind will believe it and you will reach there so much further.

Train your mind to believe you can do it and that you already achieved what it is that you want and you will have the same potential to reaching your goal as the Winners. And remember if they can do it, so can you!!

No excuses

Stop making excuses for why you can not, and start thinking of all the reasons you can!! Take all that happened to you in the past, it gave you some knowledge and wisdom you can use to reach your ultimate destination. What have you learned from all your past experiences? Did you perhaps learn that no matter how bad a situation is there's always a way out? When stuck in a bad situation you tend to forget that there is a way out, and all you can focus on is the horror that you're in. Looking back you can see that when you did this and that, things got better, but you had to take that action to make it. It's the same with everything in life, whether it's success in your relationship, success in business, success in sports.

Anything you want is right there, all you have to do is take the action to move you forward. Now you're thinking "Easy for you to say, you know what to do. You know what action you need to take".  And how do you think I know that? Do you think I just know - Intuition? if so you're giving me way to much credit! I educate myself and I watch the people who succeeded before me. I take what they did and I copy what I can use and I do it my way. I listen to podcasts, I read books, I listen to audio books, I do what I have to do to reach where I want to reach.

If I can do it, so can you!!

Everytime I read about someone having great success and accomplishing something great I salute them and I think "If your can do it, so can I". I have a ton of baggage to carry with me, we all do, but I use it as stepping stones when I need it. When I hit the wall, when I feel like I can't move forward, I open my baggage and take out that thing in there that can help me and I build a flight of stairs, a climbing rope or a sledgehammer and I push through. I'm getting past that wall no matter what.

There's nothing as damaging as "I could, and I know I should, but..." That's not getting you anywhere. As Nike states "Just do it"!! No more procrastinating, no more I should, I could or what if. Get out of your own way and do it now. Do it today, and keep doing it everyday until you have reached where you want to be.

Me in San Diego because I visualized being there.
