How do you grow and what does it mean?

How do we grow as humans?

What does it mean to grow?

I believe that growth equals change, that in order for you to grow you have to make some changes. Not necessarily big changes but significant ones that you notice and can feel in your body. Like when you stop smoking, that's a change you feel for a long time. You are hunted by the nicotine monster for a long time after you've had your last cigarette. I have now been smoke-free for over a year, and just yesterday someone was passing me with a lit cigarette and I felt the need to ask for one. I didn't, because I'm supposed to be strong and a changed woman, but still that feeling of craving that cigarette sticks with me. And this is a change for the better, I am now healthier because I stopped smoking, so it's a good change.

Change that you notice can also be if you change career or you get a divorce, that is also something you will feel for a long time and most of the time the things you feel the most and gives you the toughest resistance is what makes you grow the most. A small change like starting a new workout routine can also make you grow, but not in the same way. Unless you are going for a title in the next bikini fitness challenge, then you will grow out of your own skin and make everyone around you gasp for air. 

All changes that makes you grow are positive is you use it for good. If you go through a divorce and you get angry and bitter, the growth will wait until you are in a better mindset, but if you see that this divorce is actually a good thing for you,you will start growing into the person you where meant to be. A person with purpose and goals, who wakes up everyday thankful for the new start and a fresh beginning. Taking back control over your own life where no one holds you back but you. This also goes for someone who changes careers, not always sure what will happen or if it will give the income that is wanted, but when you get to do what you love you will be richer than the riches person in the world.

That is growth, changing something in your life that you really feel for a longer period of time. Changes are good because it makes you grow and it makes you a better version of yourself. Think about one thing you could change today that you will feel for a longer period of time. If you make that change today, where will you be in a year from now? Think about it and write it down, then think about how you will feel in a year from now when the change is there and write that down.

Now what are you going to do? Are you going to think about this for a year or are you going to start the process of making that change today, even if it feel hard and difficult ... Can you do it? Are you willing to grow? Or are you scared of changing so much you will lose something in the process?
I can almost guarantee you that you will lose something in the process of making changes in your life and the reason for that is that you outgrow them. The changes you are making with yourself and your life is making you grow, but all the people in your circle that are not evolving or changing with you, are not growing with you either, and you will pass them on your way up. But don't worry, some of them will catch up with you, and you will also find new and exiting people on your journey to replace the ones that never grows.
Life is not about standing still and being content, it's about evolving and growing into the next level of adventure that awaits you.
